A horse drawn sleigh ride at Lake Louise is a relaxing way to enjoy the winter scenery of the area. The season for the sleigh rides starts in mid-December and weather permitting it runs until early April.
The temperature in Lake Louise can drop well below freezing. A blanket is provided to help keep you warm but I would also suggest wearing a hat, gloves and perhaps a scarf. The horses will glide you along the trail to the end of the lake. On the way it passes by the frozen Lake Louise falls. Keep a look out for ice climbers that can often be seen bravely navigating their way to the top.
If it is frozen enough the driver will take the sleigh right out onto the lake. This gives an excellent opportunity to take some photographs. The views looking back towards the Chateau hotel and the surrounding mountain scenery are stunning.
The sleigh rides leave right at the lake edge at the front of the Chateau Lake Louise Hotel. Tickets need to be purchased in advance at the Brewster desk. It’s located in the hallway to the right of the hotel lobby. On holiday weekends, Christmas holidays and Valentine’s Day the sleigh rides get quite busy, you would be best to book ahead. Otherwise it’s usually possible to get a reservation for a sleigh ride on the same day. You can book ahead by contacting Brewster Adventures.
