It won’t take a lot of effort to create an unforgettable marriage proposal and create a romantic getaway in the Rocky Mountains. Mother nature has created some of the world’s most incredible scenery to use as a back drop.
Lake Louise is probably one of the most notable places to propose and it’s not surprising considering the beautiful setting. In the summer months the turquoise water is contrasted by the glistening Victoria Glacier.
The Fairmont Viewpoint would make for a beautiful proposal scene. A fairly easy trail leads to a wooden platform that looks over Lake Louise and the Fairmont Chateau Hotel.
In the winter the carved ice castle on the lake is the perfect spot to get down on one knee. The entire area looks like a picturesque winter wonderland.
Ask the question while paddling a canoe in the tranquil waters of Lake Louise. Canoe rentals are available from late June into September, weather dependent.
There’s a small patio area at the Chateau Lake Louise hotel offering a view of the gardens and the lake. It can be accessed from inside the hotel by a door just outside the Victoria dining room.
Stunning mountain and valley views are offered from the top of the Lake Louise gondola in both winter and summer.
At Moraine Lake you can hike to the top of the rock pile where it over looks the lake and Valley of the Ten Peaks. (accessible seasonally from early June to mid-October)
Drive up Mount Norquay road to the viewpoint that overlooks the town of Banff and the Bow Valley. On a clear night you can see the sparkling city lights of Banff.
Two Jack Lake located near the town of Banff is very tranquil and offers a beautiful setting.
In the summer months you can take the gondola up to Sunshine Meadows at the Sunshine ski village. In August the meadows are an array of colours with wildflowers.
Any spot along Vermillion Lakes road takes in the view of majestic Mount Rundle. There are three wooden docks along the lake shore that would make a particularly good proposal spot.
The outside terrace of the Rundle Lounge at the Banff Springs hotel has a stunning mountain view.
If your budget allows book one of the Belevedere suites at the Chateau Lake Louise Hotel. It’s the balcony with the stunning view that you see in all their advertising brochures.
Book a dogsled outing with Kingmik based in Lake Lousie or with Howling Dog Or Snowy Owl Tours that operate in Spray Lakes Provincial Park outside of Canmore. Propose somewhere in the captivating winter landscape.
Take a romantic horse carriage ride around the town of Banff. Have the driver stop somewhere with a scenic view.
The top of the Banff Sulphur Mountain Gondola would be perfect any time of year as long as the weather is clear. In the busy summer months you might need to take a bit of walk to try and get away somewhere private.
On Tunnel Mountain the view from the meadow area at the reservoir has spectacular views of Mount Rundle and the Spray Valley. Many wedding ceremonies are held at this spot, bookings are available through the town of Banff.
Take a drive along the scenic Icefields Parkway. Pack a picnic, there’s plenty of places to stop and take in the incredible mountain and glacier views.
Cascade Gardens is a pretty area with with lots of green space looking back towards the town of Banff and Cascade Mountain.
Hire a private horse-drawn sleigh ride in Banff. They travel along the frozen Bow River through picturesque winter scenery. Arrangements can be made to provide chocolates and champagne.
Whisk your sweetheart away in helicopter thousands of feet above the snow-capped mountains. You’ll be landed on top of a mountain where you can and have a stop on top of a mountain to make the most unforgettable marriage proposal.
