This female grizzly and her two cubs were feeding on dandelions along the road that leads to Lake Louise. We watched them from the safety of our car. We made sure to stay far back so that we didn’t disturb them, the photos were taken with a zoom lens. I’m sure the mother was aware of our presence, but she never gave a glance our way.

Nice website !! Great photos – I especially like the outdoor hockey with the mountains in the background. Way cool. These bear pics remind me of a time when I was in Glacier National Park in Montana and on a secondary road I came across a moma Grizzly and 2 cubs. I backed up my truck when she stood up and she lost interest and went on with her cubs. Anyway good luck with the site – looks great so far. Cheers – Regards, Mal

Thanks so much Mal, glad you like our site and photos. We have only been to Glacier once. I hope to get there again this coming summer, it’s so beautiful. We have another site with a post about our drive on the Going to the sun road. You can view it here: http://www.travelfootprints.ca/2010/07/glacier-national-park I see you design websites with Studiopress, nice! I’m sure you noticed I used one of their themes for this one and our other site as well:)

Hey Audrey, you and Jack did a great job with the StudioPress Theme… I actually found your site as I was looking in the forum for some specs as I’m building out an outdoor non-profit in California with one of these. I just read the Glacier post – brought me right back. A friend of mine worked there for the summer and I was fortunate to travel with him and another friend so some of the coolest places he found there. Being a New Jersey guy I mostly get to Canada through New York… so I’ve been to Ontario many times and Quebec a bunch too. I’ve actually been in Algonquin Provincial Park for about 4 weeks total where I learned to canoe portage. I’ve seen wolves there twice. This is a really wonderful site – glad I found it. Best Regards – Mal

Thanks again Mal. I love the StudioPress themes. It’s always easier to visit the side of the continent you live on I guess. We have never been to the eastern U.S.A. We have been through Washington, Oregon and California many times though. When we lived on the west coast we loved taking road trips. We just went to Quebec for the first time this past September. We hope to travel through some of our maritime provinces at some point. New York is definitely on our list of places to see as well. That would be Jack’s dream trip to canoe portage, Algonquin must be so beautiful. You have done a classic Canadian thing that we haven’t even partaken in yet!
Cheers, Audrey

I saw the Aurora Boreallis one night in Algonquin and just as it started to fade a major Leonid Meteor shower started. When it was all over the lake we were camped on looked like a sheet of black glass with steam rising out of it because the water temperature was warmer than the air temp. It’s a major workout portaging but well worth it to get to the interior of the Park. OK Cheers A !!

Wow, sounds like an amazing night. We have been lucky this year seeing some of the northern lights from Banff. I would love to get up to the far north some time to see them.
Cheers, Audrey
